Founded over seven years ago, OC Goes Solar (OCGS) is a mission-driven 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to simplifying the solar adoption process and making clean energy accessible, affordable, and equitable for all. To date, OCGS has helped hundreds of individuals and families access rooftop solar, and we continue to expand our impact through innovative programs and community partnerships.

OCGS proudly manages initiatives like the City of Irvine’s Solarize Irvine program—a rooftop solar promotion campaign—and partners with the SOMAH program administrator to bring clean energy and bill savings to low-income tenants in multifamily affordable housing.

Position Summary:

OCGS is seeking a dynamic and passionate Community Program Specialist to join our team. This role is pivotal in driving our mission forward by overseeing program implementation, fostering community partnerships, and supporting the expansion of solar adoption across Orange County and beyond. The ideal candidate will excel in project management, community outreach, stakeholder engagement, and data-driven decision-making, while contributing to the development of systems that enhance collaboration and program effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities:

Program Management & Coordination:

  • Plan, execute, and monitor program activities to ensure alignment with organizational goals.

  • Coordinate project workflows, track progress, and maintain timely reporting.

  • Collaborate with team members to prepare quarterly and annual program reports.

  • Organize and execute presentations, workshops, and educational events to promote clean energy adoption.

Community Outreach & Engagement:

  • Build relationships with diverse communities, including marginalized populations, to promote programs and recruit participants.

  • Organize and attend community events to expand outreach efforts across Irvine and surrounding areas.

  • Develop culturally competent outreach strategies to ensure inclusivity and accessibility.

Stakeholder Communication:

  • Maintain strong relationships with partners, funders, and community leaders through clear and consistent communication.

  • Represent OCGS at meetings, conferences, and collaborative initiatives.

Data Collection & Analysis:

  • Gather, analyze, and interpret data to measure program impact and identify areas for improvement. Prepare metrics and report.

Administrative Support:

  • Manage program documentation, maintain databases, and handle scheduling.

  • Support grant writing and reporting efforts by providing program details and data.

Volunteer Coordination:

  • Recruit, train, and manage volunteers to support program activities and events.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and attention to details.

  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences.

  • Program Development: Experience designing and implementing outreach programs tailored to community needs.

  • Community Outreach & Engagement: Minimum 1 year experience.

  • Partnership Building & Collaboration: Strong networking skills, proven ability to establish and nurture relationships with local organizations, businesses, and community leaders.

  • Bachelor’s Degree: In a related field.

  • Event Planning: Skilled in organizing and coordinating community events, workshops, and presentations.

  • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with G-Suite, data visualization tools, and social media marketing. Experience with Salesforce and website editing is a plus.

  • Creative Problem-Solving: Willingness to innovate and develop new strategies to engage and empower communities.

  • Bilingual: In Spanish, Korean, or Chinese preferred.

  • Passion for Clean Energy: A genuine commitment to making clean energy accessible, affordable, and equitable for all.

Expected hours: 30 to 40 hours per week

Compensation: $27-$30 per hour

Work Location: Remote

Schedule: Includes in-person meetings and attending some evening and weekend events.
